The benefits of Cryotherapy are vast, but a few very important ones are these:
Reduces systemic inflammation
Significantly reduces pain (especially arthritis, fibromyalgia, and Lyme Disease, but anything rooted in inflammation)
Boosts dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine
Decreases recovery time post-workout
Increases athletic performance
Helps treat mood disorders
What do I wear?
You can wear anything you'd like! We have everything you will need here - however, if you have long hair, we request that you don't come in if it is still wet after a shower, and if you are coming in post-workout, we will have you dry the sweat off your skin before we have you hop in the chamber.
How does cryotherapy work?
Cryotherapy works by activating physiological processes in the body. The cold reacts with receptors on your skin, creating a fight or flight response within the body. This results in the blood in your extremities rushing to your core to protect your vital organs (which are perfectly safe, by the way). When you step out, the blood rushes back to your extremities after being enriched by your vital organs with nutrients, enzymes, and oxygen, resulting in increased circulation and decreased inflammation. Everyone has a different response, but the most common feeling following a treatment is a burst of energy, followed by extreme relaxation, which allows a great night of sleep following your treatment.
Who shouldn't do whole body cryotherapy?
There are a few contraindications for Whole Body Cryotherapy - the major ones are Raynaud's Syndrome and Phenomenon, people with high blood pressure, and pregnancy. If you have questions regarding a certain condition, please give us a call!
How cold does it get?
We set our cryosauna at a specific temperature based on the individual, but it ranges from -188 Fahrenheit and -238 Fahrenheit. It sounds SO cold, but it is completely dry, and most people say it's very invigorating.
How do I feel after a session?
Everyone experiences something slightly different following a treatment, but most people report feeling very invigorated and energized, followed by a period of extreme relaxation and a great feeling of well-being.
Why should I do cryotherapy?
You should do cryotherapy if you have any pain within your body, are prone to insomnia, are an athlete OR someone who works out a lot, if you have arthritis, fibromyalgia, Lyme disease, or any mood disorders, OR just to feel better and hang out with the best crew in Falmouth.
